Now, the new stadium is getting a name.
On Wednesday, Oct. 27, just prior to that night's men's soccer game, the field will be dedicated as the Robert R. Hermann Soccer Stadium. .
Hermann, a St. Louis businessman active in civic affairs, is very familiar in soccer circles. He is the former chairman of the executive committee of the North American Soccer League and one of its founders. The Hermann Trophy, named in his honor, is college soccer's oldest and most prestigious award and is soccer's equivalent of the Heisman Trophy. It is awarded annually to the most valuable male and female college soccer players in the nation.
The dedication ceremony begins at 6:45 p.m. The ceremony will feature the unveiling of the new Robert R. Hermann Soccer Stadium scoreboard and presentation of a plaque to Hermann.
