Health Information Students
Pass Exam with 100% Success

Students in the health information management program at the School of Allied Health Professions scored a perfect passing record on the 1999 national credentialing examination. Graduates at more than 50 schools throughout the nation take the exam.

It is rare for 100 percent of the students to pass the exam, said K. Jody Smith, chair and associate professor of health information management. The national average for successful passage of the exam is approximately 77 percent.

"The department, school and University are very pleased with the results," Smith said. "This perfect passage speaks to the quality of the program offered at Saint Louis University as well as the quality of students who will go on to be leaders in their field."

The exam is offered by the American Health Information Management Association. Successful passage of the examination allows a student to obtain the credentialing designation of a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
