Nominations Being Sought for
Five of SLU's 'Women of the Year'

Since 1977, Saint Louis University has provided annual recognition to a woman who has shown exemplary commitment, contributions and service to the University.

In celebration of the year 2000, the Women's Commission is pleased to announce the recognition of five Women of the Year. There will be one woman selected from each of the following areas: student, professional staff, support staff, faculty and administration.

The women selected will be honored at a reception and luncheon in the Saint Louis Room of Busch Memorial Center on Thursday, April 13.

Anyone in the University community can make a nomination, which must be in the form of a letter. The letter should state specifically why the nominee should be so honored. The nominee must:

  • Have at least three years of University employment and currently be employed as a member of the faculty, staff or administration (except student nominees).

  • Be committed to Saint Louis University's philosophy, as evident by the quality and diversity of her service.

  • Have achieved recognition or made significant contributions in her major field and/or areas of her life.

  • Be sensitive to, and dedicated to, increasing cultural diversity and awareness at all levels of the University and the metropolitan St. Louis community.

  • Provide service to the St. Louis metropolitan community surrounding the University campus.

The nomination letter should not be more than two pages in length and must be signed. The nominator's identity will not be shared with the selection committee.

Previous awardees and Women's Commission current board members are not eligible for nomination.

The number of nominations for a single individual is not a factor in the selection process; the person is selected for her unique contributions based on the above criteria.

Your nomination letter should be submitted no later than Friday, Feb. 25, to Julie A. Wiedemann, Women's Commission awards chair, department of forensic pathology, Doisy Hall 512, Health Sciences Center.
