Follow Some Rules When Sending Out A Bulk Mailing
|
The University maintains a third-class bulk mail permit for use by departments to process mass mailings at a reduced rate. This service is available to all departments at the Frost campus and the Health Sciences Center's academic/research divisions.
"Bulk mail permit 134 is issued to Saint Louis University as a non-profit organization," said Kathy Schmidt, supervisor of mail services. "The permit cannot be loaned to any profit-making organization nor used in conjunction with advertisements for products or services not directly related to the University's mission."
The U.S. Postal Service requires that:
Each bulk mailing must consist of at least 200 pieces or total at least 50 pounds to qualify for third-class bulk rates.
It must be sorted according to bulk mailing requirements and deposited at the weigher's office at the main U.S. Post Office, 1720 Market Street.
Bulk mail bearing the University's permit imprint must include 221 N. Grand as the return address and cannot be deposited in a regular mailbox.
Each bulk mailing must be accompanied by an approved "Statement of Mailing With Permit Imprints" (PS FORM 3602N). This original form should be submitted to the postal service, one copy retained by the department and one copy submitted to mail services, DuBourg Hall, Room 20, Frost campus.
