University Purchases Three Area Properties
|
The University recently made several land purchases:
The University has purchased the St. Bonaventure Friary complex, 4002 Washington Ave. The complex will be used for retreats, conferences, meetings and seminars. The events scheduling office will be scheduling and managing the property, and facilities services hopes to have it ready for use by June 1.
SLU also has acquired the property located at 3233 Caroline St., formerly the location of Feldman's Market, near the Health Sciences Center. Closing was set for the middle of January. The structure will be demolished, said Kathleen Brady, vice president for facilities management and civic affairs. "The market owners came to us and said they were going out of business and asked if we were interested in buying the property," she said.
The Lindell Mini Mart across from Fitzgerald Hall has been purchased by the University. The purchase closed in December. The building will not be demolished. The space could be leased to an outside business or used by the University for additional office space. "If the right user came along and someone wanted to put something in there that would be a good fit, we'd consider leasing it," Brady said.
