FAFSA Paperwork No Longer Required for Tuition Remission

It just got easier to take advantage of the University's tuition remission benefit. Effective with the 2000-2001 academic year (summer 2000 and forward), the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) no longer will be required to be filed along with each enrollment term's tuition remission benefit application. Based on recommendations from the University community, University President Lawrence Biondi, SJ, approved this change.

"Faculty and staff still are strongly encouraged to file the FAFSA form if other resources are needed to afford their SLU costs of attendance," said Kathy Hagedorn, vice president for human resources. "With this tuition remission change, any scholarship or financial aid that is awarded by the FAFSA will not affect the value of the tuition remission benefit."

The office of scholarship/financial aid is available to answer FAFSA questions and to assist with those financial aid needs not funded by tuition remission. Call the office at 977-2353 or send e-mail to finaid@slu.edu. Questions regarding the tuition remission benefit programs should be directed to the benefits office at 977-2304.
