Historians to Meet at Saint Louis U.

Hundreds of the nation's leading scholars of American history will come to Saint Louis University this spring. The Organization of American Historians (OAH) has chosen Saint Louis University as the site for its 2000 annual meeting, March 30 to April 2.

"We are pleased to be able to provide a strong academic setting in the heart of St. Louis for our academic colleagues from across the United States," said James Kimmey, M.D., executive vice president of Saint Louis University.

After careful consideration of several sites, the OAH announced that it would locate annual meeting registration, book exhibits and nearly all its sessions to the University's Midtown campus.

Kimmey said that students and faculty will gain invaluable experience from interacting with the nation's leading American historians. "This is an important opportunity to bring hundreds of academic historians to a city that played such a vital role in the westward expansion of the United States," Kimmey said.

OAH officials selected Saint Louis University for its close proximity to downtown and MetroLink. In addition, several Saint Louis University historians are members of the Organization of American Historians.
