Candlelight March Gets
New Location

The 16th Annual Candlelight March will be held Monday, April 17, to kick off Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness Week. The event begins at 6 p.m. in Laclede Park, near Compton and Olive. The crowd will march to the SLU clock tower at 7:30 p.m. The clock tower will be wrapped in a green bow, the color representing organ and tissue donor awareness, and the fountain will be lit with green lights. Donor families, transplant recipients, and patients waiting for an organ will be included in the ceremony. Refreshments, entertainment, activities for children and live music will be provided. "This event is extremely important to communicate the dire need for organ and tissue donation," said Jan Blomefield, transplant administrator at Saint Louis University Hospital. "We also want to celebrate the lives of people who are with us today because of their transplants, made possible by wonderful and generous families of the donors. In addition, we want to remind people to express their wishes to family members if they want to become an organ donor, so that those waiting for a transplant will also have another chance at life." All are welcome and encouraged to attend. For more information, call 977-7153.
