HR Survey Seeks Input from Staff

A new survey will give staff at Saint Louis University a chance to voice their opinions. The purpose is to obtain input on job and workplace issues. Survey results will be available this summer.

All full-time staff should have received the survey in early March, and participation is voluntary. All individual responses will be anonymous and confidential.

Human resources, with the assistance of the department of psychology, conducted similar staff surveys in 1991 and 1995. These surveys led to University improvements such as enhanced on-site training and development programs, additional communication channels with groups such as the Staff Advisory Committee, and regular focus groups with HR department clients. Drs. Dave Munz and Edward Sabin from the psychology department are assisting with this year's survey development and analysis.

This survey will provide University-wide and divisional reports that will allow major organizational units to compare their results with University averages.

A committee of staff and faculty are assisting with review of the survey process. Committee members include Vernetta Cummings (community outreach), Dr. Judith Medoff (biology), Thomas Nowicki (ITS), Ruth Marquis (human resources) and Kathy Hagedorn (human resources).
