Office Professional Award


Donna Valentine is this year's winner of the "Office Professional of the Year" award.

Valentine works as a senior human resources assistant in the compensation office. She has been with the University since 1987. She also has served as a secretary in the department of surgery and in various areas of human resources, both at the Frost campus and the Health Sciences Center.

The award is intended to give special recognition to an office professional (secretary, clerk, administrative assistant, transcriptionist etc.) who has made an outstanding contribution to Saint Louis University.

A nomination letter praised Valentine for her "leadership skills and team support" and for her "sense of professionalism and dedication to the ideals of Saint Louis University."

"She exemplifies the guiding principles of the University: competence, conscience, compassion, community and commitment," according to another letter supporting her nomination.

The award was presented at the 12th annual Office Professional Seminar Aug. 10 in the auditorium of the School of Allied Health Professions.

The criteria for the award includes support of the Catholic and Jesuit mission of SLU, performance beyond normal expectations, leadership and team support, level of professionalism, problem-solving abilities and years of service.

Last year's winner was Anita Suzanne Poole.
