Two Faculty/Staff Retreats Scheduled
|
Retreat from the semester's already-hectic pace and join your colleagues for a weekend at a faculty/staff retreat sponsored by the department of campus ministry.
The Oct. 27 to 29 weekend will consider "Friends of Jesus, Disciples of Christ." Frank Cleary, SJ, associate professor of theological studies, will lead the two-night retreat. A scripture scholar, Cleary writes a weekly column that appears in seven Catholic newspapers and is active in parish and retreat ministries. The weekend will look at the people Jesus chose as friends and what we can learn from them.
The fall weekend begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday and closes at noon Sunday.
The spring weekend, "God of All Creation," is set for Feb. 24 to 25. Through guided reflection and media such as watercolor, retreatants will be invited to experience and express the divine creative spirit within. No artistic ability is required. The director, Corlita Bonnarens, is a Sister of Mercy, an artist, teacher, spiritual director and director of spirituality at Mercy Center.
The overnight retreat opens at 9 a.m. Saturday and closes at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Both retreats will be held at Mercy Center, 2039 North Geyer Road in West St. Louis County. The cost for each retreat is $40. The program is subsidized by campus ministry. Spouses or friends are welcome. Early registration is required. For more information, call Mary Flick at 977-2428.
