ITS: Beware e-mail virus
outbreak on campus

Due to a recent outbreak of an e-mail virus that infects critical Windows system files, Saint Louis University employees should not open e-mail messages with unknown origins.

Be on the lookout for any messages that have the subject line or attachment "Internet_security_forum.doc.pif." In addition to ".pif" file extensions, be aware of ".scr" and ".exe" file extensions.

If you are experiencing problems with accessing anti-virus sites on the World Wide Web, are unable to update your virus definitions or can't reboot your computer, your computer may be infected.

If you suspect your system has been infected, call the support center immediately at 977-4000.
