Chris Waldvogel and Saint Louis University have made a grand connection.
Waldvogel, a St. Louis area native, has been named editor of Grand Connections. He also will assist in other projects for the publications group. Waldvogel formerly worked for the Journal Newspapers of Southern Illinois. During his five-year stint with JNSI, he served as a copy editor and assistant sports editor before being named sports editor.
In the latter position, Waldvogel managed a team of four reporters and three photographers for the JNSI sports sections, which covered prep sports teams in the Metro East. Waldvogel also briefly worked for MultiMedia PR Group in downtown St. Louis before accepting the position with Saint Louis University.
"Working at SLU is a dream come true for me," Waldvogel said. "This position gives me an opportunity to advance all facets of my talents in an environment that fosters the professional, personal and spiritual development of its students and employees. It's truly an honor to join the ranks of such a distinguished institution."
After attending the University of Missouri at St. Louis for two years, Waldvogel transferred to the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he earned his bachelor of journalism degree in 1994.
Waldvogel replaces Joe Muehlenkamp, who is now associate director of public relations at the Health Sciences Center. Waldvogel can be reached at 977-2519. Any items for Grand Connections should be sent to gc@slu.edu.
The publications department also has added Carrie Fritsche to its graphic design team. Fritsche, a 1998 graduate of Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo., previously worked for Pfeiffer Plus Co., where she focused on print design.
