
Magazine ranks SLU as one of nation's best values

Saint Louis University is one of the best education deals in the United States according to a new report.
U.S. News & World Report's2000 "America's Best Colleges" has ranked Saint Louis University 24th on its list of "Schools That Offer the Best Value" among national universities.
To determine which schools offer the best value, U.S. News uses a formula that relates a school's academic quality to the net cost to students. At Saint Louis University, the level of academic excellence continues to rise. The class of 2004 is the brightest in the University's long history. The average ACT score of incoming freshmen rose a half point to 26.2, and the grade point average (3.47) is at an all-time high. This year's freshman class also is the largest in the University's history.
Saint Louis University's national recognition as a best value also is growing. Last year, Saint Louis University was ranked 30th on the list, and just two years ago. the University's ranking was 49. SLU was the only Catholic, Jesuit university to make the top 25 this year and was tied with the University of Notre Dame as a best value.
In addition, U.S. News found the department of aerospace and mechanical engineering at Parks College of Engineering and Aviation to be one of the finest in the nation. It was ranked fourth among the best aerospace/aeronautical/astronautical undergraduate engineering departments without doctorate programs among national universities. U.S. News also ranked the undergraduate engineering program at Parks College 33rd in the nation.
The MBA entrepreneurship program at the John Cook School of Business and Administration was ranked 27th in the nation. It is the fifth consecutive year the program has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report.
