Contact: April 29, 2002 Community Enjoys Spring Fever Event ST. LOUIS--Everyone had the fever Friday, April 26, as students and other members of the University community enjoyed music, food and fun at the annual Spring Fever event. The event took place on Laclede Avenue between Grand and Compton. Activities got under way at 2 p.m. and continued throughout the day and evening. A performance by the Gin Blossoms was a highlight of this year's Spring Fever. The alternative rockers, best known for their hits "Hey Jealousy" and "Found Out About You," kicked off their 2002 tour at the SLU event. The musical entertainment was rounded out by Nadine, DJ Nitro, Earl, Ronny Louve and more. Festival goers enjoyed carnival rides, games, student booths and tasty treats. Some tried their hand at "sumo" wrestling, while others attempted to conquer a rock-climbing wall. Students also got the chance to soak their leaders in the Sigma Kappa dunk tank. A fireworks finale capped off the evening. The event was sponsored by the Student Activities Board. Students created the board in 1988 to provide campus-wide special events. |
