Contact: April 15, 2004 Saint Louis University Museum of Art Announces Upcoming Exhibitions
ST. LOUIS -- The Saint Louis University Museum of Art is pleased to present two companion exhibitions: Brick by Brick: Building St. Louis and the Nation and, from the Collection of Western Jesuit Missions: Tools of a Mission. The brick exhibition explores the St. Louis brick-making industry at its peak, after the close of the 1904 World’s Fair. Tools of a Mission features the blacksmithing, tailoring, and shoemaking tools implemented by the early Jesuit pioneers who settled at St. Stanislaus Seminary in Florissant, Missouri in the early 19th century. Works from Missouri landscape artist Billyo O'Donnell, founder of Artists Along the Katy Trail, will be on display. The Brick by Brick: Building St. Louis and the Nation exhibit will run from April 15 to July 31. The Tools of a Mission exhibit will run from April 20 to July 31. Admission for both exhibits is free. An opening reception will be held on Friday, April 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Saint Louis University Art Museum, 3663 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis, Missouri.
