Homeland Security and Pre-emptive Defense Topics of SLU International Business Event

Boeing official will discuss how information is key to battlefield superiority

ST. LOUIS -- As the United States deals with future threats here at home and abroad, superior information will be one of the keys to success. Jim Albaugh, president and CEO of Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (IDS), will explain how superior information and integrated networks are essential to combating 21st threats during an upcoming lecture at Saint Louis University.

Albaugh is the featured speaker of the upcoming Boeing Distinguished Guest Lecture Series in International Business in SLU's John Cook School of Business. His keynote address, "Homeland Security and Pre-emptive Defense," begins at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, in the Anheuser-Busch Auditorium of John and Lucy Cook Hall, 3674 Lindell Blvd. SLU's Boeing Institute of International Business is sponsoring the event.

Albaugh leads the $25-billion, 78,000-person business unit created in July 2002 through the merger of Boeing's Military Aircraft and Missile Systems and Space and Communications businesses, including the company's total space, defense, government, intelligence and communications capabilities. He also serves on Boeing's Strategy and Executive Councils.

Registration for the event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 4 p.m. in the atrium of Cook Hall. A question-and-answer session will follow the keynote address. Reservations are required for admission. Call (314) 977-3898 for more information or to make your reservation.

Prior to his current position, Albaugh was president and CEO of Boeing Space and Communications, headquartered in Seal Beach, Calif. Under Albaugh's leadership, Space and Communications grew to be the world leader in several key markets. A Washington state native, Albaugh joined the company in 1975 as a project engineer at its Hanford, Wash., operations.
