May 10, 2002 Gaslight Square Preservationist to Speak at SLU ST. LOUIS -- Preservationist Patrick Schneider will discuss the history of the Gaslight Square district as well as efforts to maintain the area during an upcoming lecture at Saint Louis University. A building contractor, Schneider will enliven his talk with an extensive slide show on the square and explain his group's attempts to preserve not only the memory of this vibrant area but also the fast-disappearing physical remains of its heyday as an entertainment mecca.WHO: Patrick Schneider, preservationist and building contractor WHAT: "Gaslight Square: Past, Present, and Future" WHEN: 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1 WHERE: Saint Louis University Archives, Pius XII Memorial Library, Room 307 INFO: Sponsored by the Saint Louis Area Historical Association (SLAHA), the lecture is free and open to the public.
