Global Student Entrepreneur Awards Receives Funding for Book
The Global Student EntrepreneurSM Awards announces that Ron Rubin, board chairman of The Republic of Tea and an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at Saint Louis University, has pledged $50,000 to publish a book featuring the stories of past winners and their businesses. The check was presented at a ceremony at the Republic of Tea in Nashville, Ill. The book will be released in September. The stories in the book will give insights into the how these young men and women were able to operate successful businesses while attending college. In many cases, the students had to overcome significant odds to make their businesses thrive. Michael McMyne, the 2002 Social Impact Winner, will spearhead the project. McMyne is the president of McMyne & Associates LLC, an inspirational speakers bureau, and a senior at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. The Global Student EntrepreneurSM Awards is a two-tiered program that recognizes the entrepreneurial efforts of undergraduate students. The program originated at, and is run by Saint Louis University’s Jefferson Smurfit Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. There are sixteen regions that include all of North America, the Caribbean, Australia and New Zealand. The first-place winner from each of the sixteen regions will compete for first-place as the Global Student EntrepreneurSM and a prize of $10,000. For more information, visit www.gsea.org.
