Prince Imperial of Brazil to Speak at SLUSt. Louisans will have the rare treat of meeting Prince Bertrand of Orleans-Braganza, the Prince Imperial of Brazil, when he lectures at Saint Louis University at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in the Knight's Room of the Pius XII Memorial Library, on the topic of "The Cross and the Crown." His Imperial and Royal Highness will be in St. Louis over the weekend and will attend other events being held in his honor. Prince Bertrand will explain what inspired great kings like St. Louis IX of France to sanctity, and monuments of Faith, like the beautiful Cathedral of Chartres, to be built. He is the great-great-great (20 times) grandson of King Saint Louis IX, the Crusader, in the direct legitimate male line. A few of his illustrious crusading ancestors include King Saint Ferdinand III of Castile, King Afonso Henriques of Portugal, Queen Isabella of Spain and Emperor Leopold I of the Holy Roman Empire. Prince Bertrand will describe how faith, culture, tradition and the family have always been key elements in forming Christian civilization and true leadership. With kings, saints, heroes and crusaders as his ancestors, Prince Bertrand fully understands the traditions he represents. Born in France, educated by the Jesuits in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), a graduate of the Law School of the University of Sao Paulo, Prince Bertrand is second in the line of succession to the Brazilian Throne. The event is sponsored by The American Society for the Defense of Tradition Family and Property and Friends of Vieilles Maisons Fran?aises. The lecture is open to the public and free of charge. Refreshments will be served. For more information, please call Mrs. Frederick Zivnuska at 314.997.3307. |
