Saint Louis University to Request Proposals for Development of Grand and Lindell Property
Saint Louis University President Lawrence Biondi, S.J., announced today that the University will issue a request for proposals (RFP) for the development of a University-owned parcel of property at the northeast corner of Grand and Lindell Boulevards.
Development of the property is significant because of its location at an important intersection that serves as the entrance to Grand Center.
“I am very pleased to announce that the University is moving ahead with development of this property,” said Biondi. “We believe this project is just the start of other development projects in and around Grand Center, which will make the area even more attractive for people to live, work and play.”
The University is seeking proposals for a mixed-use, multi-story development with retail on the ground floor and a creative plan for the upper floors, which could include offices, a hotel, retirement or other upscale living space. The property, which is within the Grand Center District, is slated to receive funding from tax increment financing.
“We are working with Grand Center to ensure the best possible project for this important location,” said Biondi. “We are also excited that Grand Center will be moving forward with other development projects in the very near future.”
The announcement comes as Grand Center celebrated the opening of its arts season Friday, Sept. 17, with a day full of activities.
Grand and Lindell Development, The University hopes to send out the RFP within the next two weeks and will then study the development proposals for the property, with a goal of getting the selected project underway as soon as possible.
