Nominations Being Accepted for Women of the Year

Saint Louis University's Women's Commission is seeking nominations for the 2005 Women of the Year. One administrator, faculty, professional staff, support staff and student will be chosen for the honor.

Everyone is encouraged to nominate a women whose life and work reflect the motto of the Women’s Commission: Education, Enrichment and Empowerment. The letter should state specifically why the nominee deserves to be honored.

Criteria for Selection

  • Commitment to Saint Louis University’s philosophy, measured by the quality and diversity of her service.
  • Recognition she has received or evidence of significant contributions she has made in her major field or areas of her life.
  • Sensitivity and dedication to increasing cultural diversity and awareness at all levels of the University and in the metropolitan St. Louis community.
  • Service to others within or around the Saint Louis University campuses.

Please note the following guidelines for nominating a SLU woman for this honor:

  • The letter of nomination should not exceed two pages in length and should follow the above criteria for selection.
  • The nomination must be signed.
  • Previous awardees and current members of the awards committee of the Women’s Commission board are not eligible for nomination.
  • The number of nominations for a single individual is not necessarily a factor in the selection process.
  • Anyone in the University can make a nomination, but the nominee must be a female who has been employed for at least three years.
To nominate more than one woman for the honor, a letter of recommendation should be submitted on behalf of each woman. Previous awardees are not eligible.

Deadline for nominations has been extended to by 5 p.m. Thursday, March 3. Send nomination letters to Julie Howe, department of forensic pathology, Doisy Hall 512. You also may email letters to howej@slu.edu.

The 2005 Women of the Year luncheon will be held on Thursday, April 14 at noon in the Saint Louis Room in Busch Student Center. Information about reserving a spot at the luncheon will be available soon.
