Geology Professor Expected to Appear on CBS Program "60 Minutes"

New information added 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10: CBS has re-scheduled Kusky's appearance for next Sunday, Nov. 20

Saint Louis University professor Timothy Kusky, Ph.D., is expected to appear on the CBS newsmagazine "60 Minutes" Sunday, Nov. 20. "60 Minutes" airs on local CBS affiliate KMOV-TV Sundays at 6 p.m.

Kusky will discuss the rebuilding of New Orleans in a report on the news program. "60 Minutes" flew Kusky to the hurricane-ravaged city to film the interview.

Kusky is the Paul C. Reinert Chair of Natural Sciences in the department of Earth and atmospheric sciences at the University. He authored the 2003 book Geological Hazards, which predicted the mass failure of levees in the "Big Easy" should a Hurricane of Katrina's magnitude ever strike the city.

Kusky has been interviewed by national and international media on this topic including TIME magazine, U.S.News & World Report, CNBC, FOX News, CNN, the San Francisco Chronicle and the Boston Globe.
