SLU Kicks Off 13th Annual Backpack Project

Help area children head back to school this fall with new backpacks, school supplies, shoes and clothing.

The annual Backpack Project, now organized by the School for Professional Studies in the College of Public Service, is in its 13th year.

Donations of gift certificates, cash, checks, and general school supplies will be used to assist children at Wyman Elementary School, located near the SLU Medical Center, and the Griffin Center in East St. Louis. Donations can be designated by making your check payable to the preferred organization.

School supplies and donations can be sent to Mary Schmelter, School for Professional Studies, Room 228.

Through the end of May, individuals, families or co-workers can also sign up to sponsor a child by contacting:
