Donors, Students Meet During Scholarship DinnerMore than 180 students, donors and University officials gathered April 19 in the St. Louis Room of Busch Student Center for the 2006 Scholarship Dinner. The annual dinner is a special evening that brings together student recipients of named scholarships and scholarship benefactors.
Donors traveled from as far away as Shelby, Miss., to meet and interact with their scholarship recipients. After dinner, guests were inspired by the donor and student testimonials regarding the scholarship program. Donor Barbara Galli expressed the importance of giving, believing that these students can do anything if just given the chance. She and her six siblings created the Del L. and Irene Bannister Scholarship in memory of their parents. Elizabeth Fogarty, the St. Monica/Saint Louis University Endowed Scholarship recipient, and Michael Hankins, the Thomas F. McKenna Scholarship recipient, gave moving speeches explaining what their scholarships mean to them. For many students, scholarship support is the opportunity that allows them to be able to attend Saint Louis University and receive an outstanding Jesuit education.
