Facilities Management and Civic Affairs Announces Division Reorganization

Facilities management and civic affairs has announced a new organizational structure that will enhance the services it provides to the Saint Louis University community.

The reorganization follows the retirement of Chuck Smith, former associate vice president for facilities services. Smith retired June 30 after 24 years of service at SLU.

"During his time in facilities services, Chuck made a lasting impression on many of us at SLU, and much of the campus as we know it today is a direct result of his efforts," said Kathleen Brady, vice president for facilities management and civic affairs.

Brady said the new organization will better support current functions and more closely align the division's goals with the University's strategic goals and objectives.

Two new functional areas have been created: facilities planning and management as well as service operations.

Under the leadership of Associate Vice President Denise Taylor, facilities planning and management combines all functions related to buildings, including design, construction, maintenance and space.

Reporting to Taylor, Dan Goodman has assumed responsibility for facilities management - formerly known as building services - in addition to his current role as director of design and construction.

Associate Vice President Chris Regan directs the functions of service operations, which now encompasses parking, cards and transportation services, grounds maintenance and custodial services, mail and distribution services and materials management. In addition, Regan has assumed responsibility for division-wide budget planning, performance management initiatives and division goals and strategic planning.

The department of public safety, under the direction of Jack Titone, reports directly to Brady.
