Brown Bag Lunch with Professor ScheduledA brown-bag lunch featuring focusing on "Embodied Citizens: The Significance of the Body during Democratic Communication" will take place 12:15-1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, in the third-floor conference room of Xavier Hall. Beverages will be provided.Speaker Diana Coole, Ph.D. is a professor of political and social theory at Birkbeck College University of London. She has published Women in Political Theory: From Ancient Misogyny to Contemporary Feminism and Negativity and Politics: Dionysus and Dialectics from Kant to Poststructuralism. Forthcoming books include Merleau-Ponty and Modern Politics after Anti-Humanism: Co-Existence in an Interrogative Mode and Materialism and Subjectivity. Her articles have appeared in numerous journals, including Political Theory, Journal of Contemporary Political Theory, British Journal of Political Science, Political Studies, and Radical Philosophy. She has served on the editorial board of several journals and currently co-edits Theory and Event. Coole’s visit is sponsored by the departments of political science, communication, English, philosophy, and sociology and criminal justice and the women’s studies program.
