Warhol's Silver Clouds Float Through SLU One Last TimeIn 2001 and 2002, Saint Louis University’s Museum of Contemporary Religious Art introduced St. Louis audiences to artist Andy Warhol’s Silver Clouds exhibit. A hit in both showings, Silver Clouds is visiting SLU one final time on the 40th anniversary of its debut at New York’s Leo Castelli Gallery.
The exhibit opens with a public reception 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, in MOCRA. Considered one of Warhol’s most joyous works, the helium-filled, pillow-shaped Mylar balloons in Silver Clouds roam the air currents in MOCRA’s nave gallery and respond to touch. The exhibit’s traditional home is the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. Silver Clouds remains at MOCRA through Sunday, Dec. 17. Regular museum hours are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. Admission is free. For more information, call (314) 977-7170 or visit mocra.slu.edu. |
