Libraries Expand with Addition of Online Resources

Looking for Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" Speech or an overview of Jesuit history?

Check out the Gale Virtual Reference Library, a collection of almost 400 reference books recently made available online to the SLU community by Pius Library. You will find the "I Have a Dream" speech in the African American Almanac, 9th edition, and an overview of Jesuit history in the New Catholic Encyclopedia, 2nd edition.

Need a quotation, a description of a character in a classic novel, a map of a country, or a flag?

Search Oxford Online Reference: Premium Collection with the Western Civilization and Literature Collections additions.

Are you a law student or other student interested in the history of copyright or other law-related topic in Great Britain or the U.S.?

Check out Making of Modern Law: Legal Treatises 1800-1925 and U.S. Supreme Court Records & Briefs, 1832-1978 provided to the SLU community by the Law Library.

Additional online resources added in 2006 include:

  • Annual Review of ... series back to volume 1 for each title
  • Gallup Brain, a collection of all Gallup Polls and analyses back to 1935.
  • PsycARTICLES, journals published by the APA, the APA Educational Publishing Foundation, the Canadian Psychological Association, and Hogrefe Publishing Group. As of Fall, 2006, journals from the APA go back to volume 1, issue 1.
  • Worldwide Political Science Abstracts, which incorporates Political Science Abstracts to 2000 and ABC POL SCI to 2000, and provides additional coverage to the present.
