Register for Shared Vision SessionsThe University’s vision for the future, firmly rooted in its Jesuit heritage, will be shared over lunch this semester as the popular Shared Vision series debuts a new format in October.Shared Vision is the three-part video-and-discussion series that explores the history of the Jesuits, the spirit and insights of their founder Ignatius Loyola and the guiding vision that animates Jesuit education in the third millennium. More than 2,100 faculty and staff have attended Shared Vision sessions since the program began in spring 1996, and more than 850 have completed the three-part series. Since 2004, Shared Vision: The Beginnings, the first part of the series, has been shown at all new employee orientations and used as part of new faculty orientation. Shared Vision: Transformation, the second part of the series, looks at how that Ignatian vision was transformed by the new cultures and new areas of knowledge it encountered and the new partnerships it formed as it spread around the globe. It will be shown 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, in Busch Student Center, Rooms 352 and 353. The third and final segment, Shared Vision: Transitions, looks at the changes the Ignatian vision encountered as it became part of American culture and the modern era. Participants are challenged to consider thoughtfully the next step for those who want to continue the Ignatian vision in education. Transitions will be viewed and discussed 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, in Busch Student Center, Rooms 352 and 353. Participants are invited to watch the video as they enjoy lunch, then discuss the film’s major points and their application to University life today. Registration is required. To register, e-mail the date(s) desired, name, department, interoffice address and phone number to terneusl@slu.edu. |
