Nominations Needed for In Touch Award

The In Touch with the Community Award recognizes Saint Louis University faculty and staff involvement in the St. Louis community.

Nominations are requested by Friday, Sept. 29, for an annual award that recognizes one SLU faculty or staff member for his or her extraordinary contributions to the St. Louis community.

The In Touch with the Community Award will be presented at the kickoff of the ninth annual SLU Make a Difference Day on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Last year, the University presented the award to Jerry Ransberg, stores supervisor for Saint Louis University’s materials management department, for his service to the University and the St. Louis community. Ransberg worked closely with the SLU community relations department to make a difference in the lives of hundreds of disadvantaged St. Louisans through the “Doing More with What’s in Store” program. Other previous recipients include: Patrick McCarthy (Pius XII Memorial Library), James Gilsinan, Ph.D. (dean, College of Public Service), Kenneth Fleischmann (senior associate general counsel) and Ruth Murray (professor, nursing).

This year’s recipient will also be announced in the fall issue of the In Touch newsletter. The newsletter informs members of the St. Louis community twice a year about how the University makes a difference in the community and pursues the mission of helping others through vigorous citizenship guided by Jesuit, Catholic values.

Many members of the SLU community actively make a difference for our neighbors in the city. Please help us recognize and support their efforts.

Submit a nomination by e-mail to steffese@slu.edu. Be sure to include the individual’s department and contact information, as well as a brief description of how this person has touched the lives of others and made a difference to the St. Louis community.
