Cancer Center Offers Mammograms During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Did you know that October is breast cancer awareness month?

Mammography is the most proven screening method used to detect breast cancer. In many cases, a mammogram can show the presence of cancer up to two years before you or your doctor can feel a lump. When breast cancer is detected early, treatment is usually more effective and survival rates are higher.

The Saint Louis University Cancer Center encourages all university and hospital employees to get a recommended yearly mammogram if they are over age 40 or if their breast cancer risk is above average. As an added convenience, the Saint Louis University Breast Imaging Center will be open extra hours during October:

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays - 7:20 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Tuesday and Thursday – 6:20 a.m.-4 p.m.

The Breast Imaging Center is located on the first floor of the Cancer Center at 3655 Vista.

All participating employees will receive a free canvas tote bag upon completion of their mammogram, and those who schedule their mammogram during October will be eligible to win a gift basket.

To schedule an appointment, call (314) 577-8022.
