Immigrants Celebrate a New Life and a New Country as Saint Louis University Hosts Citizenship Ceremony Oct. 6For 75 people who have come from across the globe to live in St. Louis, Friday, Oct. 6 will be a day filled with celebration, reflection and dreams for the future as they take the oath of U. S. citizenship. The naturalization ceremony, hosted by the Saint Louis University School of Law, will be held at 11 a.m. in the Anheuser-Busch Auditorium in John & Lucy Cook Hall, 3674 Lindell Blvd. The ceremony will be led by U. S. District Court Judge Henry E. Autrey and officials from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service and the U. S. Attorney’s Office. SLU law students will perform the national anthem during the ceremony. Jeffrey Lewis, dean of the University’s School of Law, will welcome the new citizens with a keynote address. The new Americans, who come from Bosnia, Eastern Europe, Russia, Vietnam, Mexico and Central America, are part of a growing international community in the St. Louis area. |
