Research Compliance
Administration of Research Compliance:
Administration for the University’s research compliance activities reports to the Provost’s Office through Associate Provost Patricia Hagen, Ph.D. The Provost's Office works with University research committees and departments responsible for specific components of research compliance, including the Institutional Review Boards (IRB) for the protection of human research subjects, the Department of Environmental Safety and Services, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and the Conflict of Interest Committee. The Provost’s Office also works closely with the University’s Sponsored Programs Office to help ensure financial compliance with grant-related regulations.

Saint Louis University is commited to ethical and responsible conduct in research, as well as compliance with local, state and federal regulations regarding research.
Research Compliance Functions:
- Develop, publish, and implement written policies and procedures regarding the responsible conduct of research;
- Oversee the development and implementation of ongoing compliance education and training activities for all personnel involved in research;
- Monitor and alert research compliance areas regarding regulatory updates;
- Maintain a confidential hotline for the reporting of concerns involving the responsible conduct of research;
- Review and act upon concerns related to the responsible conduct of research; and
- Conduct internal audits to monitor research compliance and assist in the reduction of identified problem areas.
