The Office
of Research Services Administration (ORSA) handles proposal submissions
from University researchers. The ORSA offices on North Campus and at the Health Sciences Center specialize in different aspects
of the research community. Please check
with your chair or dean if you are uncertain which research office applies
to your department.
The Faculty
Handbook for Proposal Preparation (currently being updated - check back soon!) also provides important information
for those interested in intramural and extramural funding. Chapter links
are embedded in the table of contents to help you navigate through the
handbook. Our Information
Most Commonly Needed is also a helpful resource that is always found
on page two of The Grantwinner.
Please contact the
Office of Research Services Administration at 977-2241or via e-mail at research@slu.edu
if you have any questions.

CONCEPTUALIZING
YOUR RESEARCH PROPOSAL
You should begin developing
a proposal when you have a good research idea, the time to develop that
idea and the need for financing the research. The Office of Research Services Administration
(ORSA) can help you conceptualize your research proposal in a logically
ordered manner. The tools below can help you organize your work and prepare
you to move along in the proposal development process.
BUDGET
JUSTIFICATION The budget
justification can be one of the most difficult steps in the proposal
development process. In order to assist you in these efforts, we have
included a sample budget justification that you can use as a guide.
The following is a
general checklist for your grant application. Application requirements
may vary depending on the funding agency. Please check with the funding
agency to make sure you meet the program guidelines. If you have any questions
about your application requirements, please contact the Office of Research
Services Administration (ORSA) at 977-2241.
