Election

The Staff Advisory Committee's (SAC) leadership will be provided by the (1) chair, (2) chair-elect, (3) past-chair, (4) recording secretary, (5) corresponding secretary, and (6) membership coordinator. Election of the chair-elect, recording secretary, corresponding secretary, and membership coordinator will be held each April for terms commencing in May.

The CHAIR ELECT will attend SAC executive board and SAC meetings and assist the chair as needed. In the event the chair is unable to fulfill his/her duties, the chair-elect will assume the responsibility of the chair. The chair-elect assumes a three year commitment: he/she serves for one year, becomes the chair for one year, and serves as past-chair for one year. The chair sets the agenda (and sends it to the corresponding secretary for distribution), and presides over both the SAC executive board and regular SAC meetings. Additionally, the chair serves as the SAC representative on the President's Coordinating Council (PCC).

 

The RECORDING SECRETARY will compose minutes of each regular SAC meeting and will maintain a record of current meeting minutes including attendance records of SAC members. The recording secretary will work with the membership sub-committee chair to assure that all membership records are kept up-to-date, and hold/file new membership forms that are received and processed during his/her term. The recording secretary will also send completed minutes to the corresponding secretary for distribution to membership in a timely manner. The recording secretary assumes a one year commitment which requires one executive board meeting per month in addition to attendance at the regular SAC meeting.


The CORRESPONDING SECRETARY will reserve meeting rooms, arrange Newslink articles, post the meeting schedule and details on the SAC Web site, and maintains the archives. The corresponding secretary will distribute announcements of up-coming meetings (including agenda and drafted minutes) in a timely manner to all SAC members as well as distribute notifications of death (according to University policy) and special announcements (i.e. nomination forms/ballots) to SAC members. Moreover, the corresponding secretary will work with Troy P. Turnipseed to ensure accuracy of the SAC Web site. The corresponding secretary assumes a one year commitment which requires one executive board meeting per month in addition to attendance at the regular SAC meeting.


The MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR will maintain and keep an up-to-date record of all members and visitors. The membership coordinator will be responsible for providing a sign-in sheet during monthly meetings, be the point person for excused absences, and follow-up with visitors after each meeting via email. Furthermore, the membership coordinator will work with Troy P. Turnipseed to ensure accurate membership information is posted to the Web site. The membership coordinator assumes a one year commitment which requires one executive board meeting per month in addition to attendance at the regular SAC meeting.



The Executive Board of the Staff Advisory Committee (SAC) is sponsoring the 2014 Joyce Huelsmann Outstanding Staff Advisory Committee Member Award. The award, established this year to honor former founding SAC member, Joyce Huelsmann (SLU employee 1963-2010), recognizes a member of the Staff Advisory Committee who has best exhibited the qualities necessary for the type of leadership, service, and positive spirit that were a hallmark of Joyce Huelsmann and her involvement at Saint Louis University, and more specifically, SAC. Her high moral standards, strong work ethic, and personal commitment to leadership through example, integrity, compassion, and respect for all continue to be a cornerstone of the Staff Advisory Committee.

 

The 2013 Joyce Huelsmann Outstanding Staff Advisory Committee Member Nomination Form must be submitted no later than Friday, March 29, 2013.
