2017-18 Season

Join us as we perform our 2017-18 Season in various Grand Center
venues through an agreement with the Kranzberg Arts Foundation!

Antigone  by Sophocles

October 12 - 15, 2017 ~ Kranzberg Arts Center

A fresh perspective on this Sophocles classic, the production will be developed in collaboration with Prison Performing Arts. Exploring themes of fidelity, citizenship and civil disobedience, we see the struggles and consequences these characters encounter as a result of their choices. Directed by Lucy Cashion.

The Merchant of Venice   by William Shakespeare

November 30 - December 3, 2017 ~ The Marcelle

A loan in the name of love with perilous terms sets the stage for this tale of romance, deception and courtroom drama. Though considered one of the comedies, the play includes some of the most dramatic and memorable moments in all of Shakespeare's works. Directed by Gary Barker.

Rhinoceros  by Eugene Ionesco

March 1 - 4, 2018 ~ University Theatre, Xavier Hall

The sublime and the ridiculous propel this story of one man's struggle to maintain his identity in a world of conformists. This still relevant and sometimes disturbing piece shines a light on the absurdity of the human condition, mob mentality and self-delusion. Directed by Tom Martin.

Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson  by Alex Timbers, Music & Lyrics by Michael Friedman

April 26 - 29, 2018 ~ The Grandel

An infectious score anchors this fictionalized, irreverent look at the rise of our seventh president and the beginning of the Democratic party. A rowdy take on populism, politics and policies that redefines Jackson as a rock star with a dark side. Directed by Nancy Bell.

All performances begin at 8pm, except Sunday matinees, which start at 2pm.

Higher purpose. Greater good.
