SPS Scholarships

 

In addition to offering merit-based scholarships, SLU School for Professional Studies provides the following scholarship opportunities to qualified undergraduate students.


New Student Scholarships


New Student Commitment Scholarship*

Eligibility: SPS students who are in their first or second term and have completed no more than 6 hours with SPS. Applicants must be a clear admit and registered through the current academic year.
Availability: 3-4 recipients will be selected in terms: Summer, Fall I, Fall II, Spring I
Renewal: Nonrenewable 
Award amount: $750 for Part-time, $1,500 for Full-time.
How to apply: Complete and submit the online application. Have the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with Saint Louis University.

Summer: Wednesday, May 20, 2015
Fall 1: Friday, August 7, 2015

New Student Incentive Scholarship*

 

Eligibility: Newly admitted SPS students registered for their first term
Availability: 4-8 recipients will be selected each term
Renewal: Nonrenewable
Award Amount: $500 for Part-time, $1,000 for Full-time
How to apply: Complete and submit the online application. Have the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with Saint Louis University.

Deadlines:

Summer: Wednesday, May 20, 2015
Fall 1: Friday, August 7, 2015
Fall 2: Friday, October 2, 2015

Current Student Scholarships


Brandt Disability Scholarship

Eligibility: SPS students who have completed a minimum of one term with SPS, earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and demonstrate financial need. Students should have documentation of their disability on file with the Office of Disability Services at SLU.
Availability: 1-2 recipients selected in the first term of Fall and Spring
Renewal: Eligible students must apply for Fall I and Spring I
Award Amount: Varies depending on available funds.
How to apply: Complete and submit the online application. Have the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with Saint Louis University.

Deadline:

Fall 1: Friday, August 7, 2015
Spring 1: Friday, December 11, 2015

 


Continuous Progress Scholarship*

Eligibility: SPS students who have completed a minimum of 12 SPS credit hours, earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate financial need. Recipients need to be in good academic standing without any incomplete grades, and have completed courses in 4 of the previous 5 terms.
Availability: Up to 4 students selected each semester (summer, fall I , spring I)
Renewal: Must reapply each semester. 
Award Amount: $500 for Part-time, $1,000 for Full-time.

Dean's Emergency Scholarship*


Eligibility: SPS students who demonstrate with documentation a dire financial need that poses a threat to course or degree completion. Students must be registered for courses in the term for which they are requesting the scholarship.
Availability: Varies based on need and available funds.
Renewal: Nonrenewable.
Award amount: Varies depending on need and available funds.
Deadline: Students can apply at any point in the term when there is a qualifying emergency
How to apply: Complete and submit the online application. Have the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with Saint Louis University.

 


Executive Advisory Board (EAB) Scholarship*

Eligibility: SPS students who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate financial need. Recipients must be in good academic standing and have their FAFSA on file with the university
Availability: 1-5 students selected each academic year
Award amount: $500-$1,000
Renewal:
Nonrenewable

Executive Advisory Board (EAB) Servant Leader Endowed Scholarship*

Eligibility: SPS students who exhibit leadership and service to their families, colleagues and community. Recipients must be in good academic standing and have their FAFSA on file with the university.
Availability: 1-2 students selected per academic year
Renewal: Nonrenewable 
Award amount:  Varies

Steven N. and Diana M. Ippolito Scholarship*

Eligibility: SPS students enrolled in courses for the term in which they are applying. Recipients must be in good academic standing and have their FAFSA on file with the university.
Availability: 1-2 students selected each academic year  
Renewal: Nonrenewable.
Award Amount: $500-$1,000

Deadlines:

Fall 1: Friday, August 7, 2015

Latisha Barefield Memorial Scholarship*

Eligibility: Fully admitted new or transfer students in the School for Professional Studies who are facing a challenging health situation, while continuing to pursue their education.
Availability: 1 recipient will be selected per academic year
Renewal: Non-renewable.
Award Amount: $500
How to apply: Complete and submit the online application along with necessary documents. Register for the term for which you are applying.

Program-Specific Scholarships

 


Hospitality Industry Advisory Board Scholarship*

Eligibility: SPS hospitality management students enrolled in at least two (2) hospitality management courses for the academic year that have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and demonstrate financial need. Recipients must be in good academic standing and have their FAFSA on file with the university.
Availability: 1-2 students selected each academic year.
Renewal: Must reapply.
Award amount: $2,000

Lumiere Place Scholarship*

Eligibility: SPS students enrolled in the hospitality management program that have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and demonstrates financial need. Recipients must be in good academic standing and have their FAFSA on file with the university.
Availability: 1-2 students selected each academic year
Renewal: Nonrenewable 
Award amount: $500-$1,000

The Larry L. Cockell Security & Strategic Intelligence Scholarship Fund*

Eligibility: SPS student pursuing full time a bachelor's degree in the security and strategic intelligence program. Recipients must be in good academic standing and have their FAFSA on file with the university.
Availability: 1-2 recipients selected each academic year
Renewal: Nonrenewable 
Award amount: $2,500-5,000

Herndon Products Scholarship for Organizational Studies*

Eligibility: Full time SPS student in the Organizational Studies Program. Recipients must be in good academic standing and have their FAFSA on file with the university.
Availability: The scholarship will be distributed annually to one student for up to four years. 
Renewal: Automatic renewal for qualifying students
Award amount: $4,500

The Anne Haltenhof Project Management Scholarship*

Eligibility: SPS students enrolled in the project management program that demonstrates financial need. Recipients must be in good academic standing and have their FAFSA on file with the university.
Availability: 1-2 students selected each academic year
Renewal: Nonrenewable
Award amount: $750-$1,500

The Diana, Alice, Emily, and Cecelia Ippolito Healthcare Scholarship*

Eligibility: SPS students working in or going into the health care industry that have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and demonstrates financial need. Recipients must be in good academic standing and have their FAFSA on file with the university.  
Availability: 1 recipient selected each academic year
Renewal: Renewable, but must reapply
Award amount: $1,500

*In addition to the qualifications outlined on the application forms, students must receive less than the equivalent of 9 credit hours (currently $5400) in tuition assistance per year, exclusive of aid received through the FAFSA such as federal loans or grants, in order to be eligible to apply for the New Student Commitment Scholarship, New Student Incentive Scholarship and Continuous Progress Scholarship.
