Moot Court

SLU LAW has a robust appellate advocacy program that includes courses, moot court competitions and teaching assistant opportunities under the direction of Professor Paige Canfield. Students learn skills critical to appellate work through simulated appellate cases.

While Trial Advocacy promotes skills necessary for litigating cases before juries, appellate advocacy focuses on cases on appeal before a judge in appellate courts. Students refine legal research and writing skills particular to appellate briefs and the oral advocacy skills required for oral arguments before a judge.
