Ticket Discounts
UPDATE
with Current Sports
NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics on the St. Louis
campus provides opportunities for athletic competition
for more than 250 athletes in 17 sports including: basketball,
swimming and diving, tennis, cross-country, soccer; men's
baseball; and women's volleyball, field hockey and softball.
These sports offer great entertainment opportunities for
students, staff and faculty. Schedules and tickets may
be obtained at the Bauman-Eberhardt center. Discounts

Services
Faculty
and staff members may cash personal checks at the U.S.
Bank location in Busch Student Center, ground floor. A
valid University ID card is required. ATM machines are
located in various buildings throughout the campus. For

Billiken
Bucks
Staff,
faculty, and students may open a Billiken Bucks account.

money into the account in the parking and card services

Employees
can make purchases against their accounts at University
dining facilities, coffee shops, convenience stores and
the bookstore by having their SLU cards swiped. Statements

Campus
Ministry
Campus
ministry services the pastoral needs of our religiously
diverse University community. Worship services, the sacraments,
retreats, peace and justice ministry, marriage preparation,
Bible study, interfaith dialogue, support groups, educational
programs, and individual pastoral counseling/spiritual
direction are offered.
University-wide
liturgical celebrations are held on a regular basis, including
an interfaith service that inaugurates the second semester.
Masses and ecumenical prayer services are held regularly.
Daily Masses are held at 7:15 a.m., noon, and 5:15 p.m.
at St. Francis Xavier College Church in the Chapel of
Our Lady. Weekend Masses are held at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday
and 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. An
additional Mass is held at 10 p.m. on Sundays during the
academic year-Sept. 1 to May 10. At the Medical Center,
daily Mass is celebrated from Aug. 15 to May 30 at noon
in the Medical School Chapel. In the Hospital Chapel,
Mass is held at noon Monday through Friday and at 10:30
a.m. on Sunday.
Campus
ministry is ecumenical in scope and respects the diverse
cultural and religious backgrounds of the members of our
University community. It sponsors Bible study and prayer
groups that neither seeks membership by solicitation nor
demand recruitment and enrollment of members.

Child
Care Services
The
University provides the childcare resource and referral
service, a service of the Child Day Care Association of
St. Louis (CDCA), which helps link parents with quality,
affordable and accessible childcare. This service is prepaid
by the University and is, therefore, free to employees.
Employees who are searching for childcare should contact
the resource and referral service by calling 531-1412
or by visiting their Web site at www.childcarestl.org.
They will receive licensing and regulatory information
and individualized listings of child care providers capable
of meeting the specific needs of the family. In addition,
the service can assist through consultation, support and
consumer education so employees can make informed decisions
regarding their child's care. The dependent care plan
lets staff members pay for eligible childcare expenses
with contributions taken from their paychecks before taxes
are withheld. See dependent care plan under "Benefits"
or call the benefits office for more information.
Computer
Purchases
University
staff and faculty may take advantage of educational discounts
offered by specified major computer vendors for personal
computer purchases. In addition, some software products
are available for home use at discounted prices. For pricing

Credit
Unions
Membership
in and services of the St. Louis Community Credit Union
and Southern Illinois Area Credit Union are available
to staff members of the University. Credit union services
include a variety of loans and savings accounts, traveler's
checks and money orders. Staff members can authorize deposits
or payments to be made to the credit union by payroll
deduction. Payroll deduction forms are available at the

Dining
Services
Saint
Louis University provides dining services to staff, faculty
and students on the St. Louis campus. Bannister House,
located at 3824 Lindell, provides breakfast, lunch and
catered meetings to faculty and staff members. Coffee
shops also are located on each campus (see Coffee Shops).

Employee
Assistance Program (EAP)
Saint
Louis University is concerned with the well-being of its
staff members and their families and is aware that personal
problems can influence job performance. Staff members,
their family members or any member of the staff member's
household are encouraged to contact the employee assistance
program (EAP). The EAP provides employees and their families
access to professional counselors on a confidential and
cost-free basis.
EAP
services can be helpful for many types of personal and
interpersonal problems such as marital/family conflicts,
emotional concerns, alcoholism/drug dependency, post-traumatic
stress, financial difficulties and legal dilemmas. Sessions
usually last one hour and are available at various times
and during weekends.

Employee
Recognition and Special Events
The
University understands that because of the contributions
of its staff and faculty members, SLU enjoys a reputation
as a leader in the community. In appreciation for the
dedicated service of staff members, the University president
began the Presidential Service Awards and the Distinguished
Service Awards programs.
Presidential
Service Awards recognize staff and faculty with 25,
30, 35, 40, 45, 50 and more years of service. This event
takes place in the spring. The photographs of current
employees with 25 years of service or more are displayed
in DuBourg Hall, second floor.
Distinguished
Service Awards recognize staff and faculty members
from each campus who have 5, 10, 15 and 20 years of service.
This celebration is held in the fall.
The
SLUStars program recognizes employees who demonstrate
professionalism and behavior consistent with the University's
guiding principles and whose accomplishments further our
mission. The SLUStars program is administered through
the University's human resources department. Nominees
will be e on the following criteria: professionalism,
magis (a striving for excellence in all they do), curia
personalis ( a personal concern and respect for others),
commitment, competence, conscience, compassion and community.
SLUStars are recognized on a quarterly basis. You may
locate the nomination form throughout the campus or on

SLUCare
Ambassadors, called The Ambassador's Club, induction
goes to those who excel at serving patients, faculty and
staff. Nominees can include doctors, maintenance staff,
nurses, security guards or office managers-anyone who
works in the Doctor's Office Building and consistently
goes out of his way to help patients have a better experience
during their visit. Nominees do not have to be Saint Louis
University employees; housekeepers who work in the building
but are employed by an outside company, for instance,
also are eligible. Nominations can be made by employees
or patients. Nomination forms are located in the lobby
and in doctor's offices.
Helping
Our Own
The
helping our own program is available to any full-time
or part-time staff member experiencing a financial crisis.
The one-time monetary gift is made from a fund supported
by donations from staff and faculty members. The program
exemplifies the University's Jesuit mission in action:
a community concerned for one another and committed to
serving those in need. The program is administered by
campus ministry with assistance from a committee of staff
members who volunteer their time. For more information,

Privileges
Library
privileges are extended to employees upon presentation
of a valid Saint Louis University ID card. For more information

Lost
and Found
The
public safety department provides a convenient central
depository for property found on campus. If employees
find or lose personal items, they may contact the public
safety office at 977-2376.
Mail
Services
Mail
services is the collection, processing and distribution
center for interoffice mail and the University's incoming
and outgoing United States Postal Service (USPS) mail.
Services are provided in accordance with USPS regulations
and with the highest regard for privacy and confidentiality.
Mail
services is responsible for the coordination of mail distribution
between all campuses and the USPS. Mail services staff
will facilitate the timely delivery of mail addressed
to University departments and employees and the metering
of outgoing mail from departments. The staff also will
inform you of the various mail services available for
processing departmental mailings or shipping packages.

Programs/Events Available to Faculty and Staff
Wellness
programs are sponsored by Simon Recreation Center. Sessions
on smoking cessation, weight reduction, exercise and other
programs are available. For more information, call the

People
of all faiths are welcome to celebrate the Mass of
the Holy Spirit, a tradition among Jesuit colleges
and universities worldwide to ring in the new academic
year.
The
"Blessing of the Crib" is held in December
and provides faculty, staff and students with an opportunity
to share the season's wishes and greetings with one another.
It is held near the crib on the corner of Lindell and
Grand.
Campus
ministry offers a number of programs throughout the year
designed especially for the faculty and staff. These include
weekend retreats, evenings of reflection, the Spiritual
Exercises and opportunities to participate in campus-wide
worship celebrations. Staff members also are encouraged
to participate in the "Shared Vision" program,
a video-and-discussion series that explores the University's
Jesuit identity and staff members' role in maintaining

Parking

Recreational
Facilities
Staff
members and their families are welcome to join Simon Recreation
Center. Located on Laclede across from the Laclede parking
garage and in the Salus Center, the "Rec Center"
offers a variety of facilities, including a swimming pool,
sauna and whirlpool, indoor track, six multi-purpose gym
courts, racquetball courts and modern weight rooms. Employees
may purchase a membership or pay a daily fee with appropriate
University identification. Membership fees may be paid
by payroll deduction. Spouse and family memberships also
are available.
Campus
Recreation offers a wide variety of fitness, wellness
and aerobic programs throughout the year. The intramural
program also offers staff and faculty members open leagues
in many sports. Instructional classes such as yoga, salsa
dance, spinning and tai chi are offered each semester.
A weight room is available in the Salus Center (3545 Lafayette).

Savings
Bonds
The
University participates in the U.S. payroll savings plan
for staff members who want to have deductions made from
their paychecks for the purchase of U.S. savings bonds.
Applications and additional information may be obtained
from the payroll office.
The
SLU Card
The
University issues official photo identification SLU ID
cards to all regularly employed full-time and part-time
staff members. The SLU ID card serves as personal identification
and provides access to many campus services for members
of the University community. Staff and faculty members
present their SLU ID cards for check-cashing privileges,
use of University library services, Billiken Bucks accounts
and access to Bannister House and the recreation center
(members only). The SLU ID card is to be presented when
identification is required by public safety.
New
employees must obtain a temporary ID card from human resources
at 3545 Lafayette prior to visiting parking and card services
offices. The temporary ID card must be taken to one of
the offices listed below to obtain a SLU ID card and parking
pass. New employees should obtain SLU ID cards from these
parking and card services department locations:

Lost
or stolen SLU ID cards should be reported to parking and
card services at 977-3471 immediately to have the cards

Transportation
Services
Transportation
services coordinate the shuttle and van service for the
University and are committed to providing professional,
timely service and vehicles that are safe and reliable.
Billiken
Shuttle Service: The Billiken shuttle service is a
contractual arrangement with Huntleigh Transportation
and provides shuttle service for the Grand Shuttle route,
the Billiken loop, and a combined route evening shuttle.
Transportation services serves as the liaison between
Huntleigh and the University community to ensure that
the shuttles are timely, the drivers are professional
and the designated routes, schedules and services fulfill
the needs of the University community.
