Human Resources

Saint Louis University is a great place to work, and people are taking notice. Frequently named a premier employer in St. Louis, SLU has been named one of the best universities to work for in the country. Here are a few of our honors.

Chronicle of Higher Education's "Great Colleges to Work For"
In its inaugural 2008 survey, the Chronicle of Higher Education recognized SLU as one of the nation's "Great Colleges to Work For." SLU was highlighted for teaching environment, housing assistance programs, retirement benefits and tenure process.

St. Louis Business Journal's "Best Places to Work"
In 2009, the Business Journal named SLU one of the region's top three "giant" employers (2,000 or more employees). The University was the only institution of higher learning on the list, and SLU was noted for its tuition remission benefit.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch's "St. Louis' Top Employers"
In 2009, readers of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch named SLU one of "St. Louis' Top Employers." Readers highlighted SLU's generous retirement plan and other benefits, including housing and adoption assistance programs.

St. Louis Magazine's "Great Places to Work"
In its 2009 listing of the region's best employers, St. Louis Magazine once again named Saint Louis University one of St. Louis' "Great Places to Work." SLU was highlighted for having a wireless campus and for its proximity to the Grand Center arts and entertainment district. Only 58 employers made the magazine's listings this year.

Human Resource Management, in partnership with the University Community, seeks to create a human organization to fulfill this mission. Specifically, we contribute by:

  • Recruiting and retaining competent, compassionate, conscientious, committed, community minded faculty and staff who are attuned to our Catholic, Jesuit heritage and to the needs of our customers;
  • Providing equitable compensation, benefits, and recognition systems which help retain and motivate faculty and staff;
  • Assuring that the University strives to provide a fair and just work environment;
  • Providing educational and training programs that enhance the personal and professional development of faculty and staff in the accomplishment of our mission;
  • Providing efficient and effective human resource systems which support the daily operations of University departments; and
