The Language Villa is created for students with a passion for exploring different cultures through language. The community is located in Notre Dame Hall and is open both to upper-class students and to freshmen. The Villa introduces students to cultural and linguistic diversity and teaches cultural understanding, a quality of increasing importance in our global society. The following languages are represented in the Language Villa: French, Spanish, Italian and German. Each will have a native- speaking Foreign Language Teaching Assistant living within the community to facilitate special programming and linguistic development. Students will learn, not just through course work, but also through conversation, cultural events, foreign films, and shared meals. They will also participate in special events in diverse ethnic communities located in the city of St. Louis and the surrounding area. Please complete a supplemental application at http://www.slu.edu/colleges/AS/languages/villa/.
