Welcome to your Home for the 2007-2008 school year!

We are looking forward to an exciting and productive year. The Language Houses are an unique living environment created through a partnership between the Department of Housing and Residence Life and the Department of Modern and Classical Languages. In the houses you will find opportunities to grow personally and culturally. In each house you will meet a Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) to help you learn about either French, Spanish, or German culture. There is also an RA and a Hall Coordinator available to make your experience amazing.

Should you have any questions about the houses or Saint Louis University, please feel free to ask any of our building staff for assistance.

Let's have a great year!

Who Will I meet in the Language Houses?

Your staff for the year will be:

  • A Residence Hall Coordinator (RHC). Who will be located in the office right behind the desk in Fusz Hall.
  • There will be an RA located in the Spanish House.
  • Each house will have a Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA). This is a graduate student visiting SLU who will help the cultural development of the houses.
  • You will also meet our amazing housekeeping and maintenance staff.

What is there to do in the houses?

The Language Houses pairs up with Fusz hall to create a hall council. This council puts on many events to provide social and educational activities. The houses also work closely with the Department of Modern and Classical Languages to provide the campus with opportunities for cultural learning and growth. The RA and FLTA's will hold weekly dinners, social outings, movie nights, discussions about everything from pop culture to racism. The most unique part of the house is that these discussions happen in English, Spanish French or German! You will have opportunities to perfect your speaking skills or just begin to learn a new language.

What do I need to know?

Please remember that all SLU policies will be enforced. Do not bring candles to burn in your room as they will be confiscated. There is no smoking in the building and no drinking unless you are 21. Even if you are 21 please remember that your door must be shut and no one under the age of 21 may be in the room.
