Spring Room Changes

Complete the on-line Spring 2008 Meal/Room Change for Current On Campus Students by the November 7, 2007 deadline if you would like to move to a different space on campus for the spring semester, would like to pull someone into your current space or want to change your meal plan.

If you want to sign up in groups of 2, 3 or 4, every member of the group must submit an application. If you submit an application to move to a new space your current space will be cancelled. If you apply to move to a new space you will be required to sign up for a new space or one will be assigned to you.

If you are being pulled in you will not be allowed to squat (remain in that space) for the fall 2009 semester.

Freshmen are only able to live in designated freshmen areas. Upper-class students are permitted to live in an apartment as long as they have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average and no judicial restrictions.

Submit the "Application" by November 7, 2007

Failure to submit the form by the deadline will result in loss of priority.

Based on your application you will be given an appointment time which you must attend in order to sign up for a new space. (You may send a representative in your place that must have a note from you giving them permission to make decisions on your behalf.)

Appointments will be posted on our website after 5pm, November 12.

Appointments will begin on November 14th and 15th, at 4:00 pm. in the Housing and Residence Life Office Conference Room.

Freshmen applicants (on campus for one semester) are given appointment times based on a lottery system (random drawing).

Upperclassmen applicants are given appointment times based on the following criteria ranked in order listed:

  1. Average number of semesters lived on campus (including current semester).
    • This does not include summer and does not need to be continuous.  This does include study abroad.
    • Transfer students are automatically given 2 semesters on campus.
  2. Average credit hours of individuals or groups as of the beginning of Fall 2007.
    • Credits taken in the summer and in high school be considered if currently on SLU transcript.
  3. Average cumulative grade point average at the beginning of the Fall 2007 semester for the individual or groups.

If you want to invite someone into your apartment or you are being pulled in, any/all residents who are pulling you in need to:

  1. Submit an application by November 7, 2007.
  2. Off campus residents and study abroad students must complete either a commuter application or a study abroad application and contract by November 7, 2007.
  3. To be pulled into an apartment you must have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average and 4 semesters on campus/or be being pulled into the same complex.

If you choose not to pull someone into your room but have an open space, we will assign a student to that space. We will not consult with you regarding who that person will be prior to the assignment.

If you wish to request a Contract Release you will need to complete a Contract Release Request form and submit it to the Housing and Residence Life Office with a letter stating the reason of your request and documentation to support your request (approval letter for studying abroad, graduation confirmation, internship approval, letter of acceptance at another institution, etc.).  You will receive a letter of approval/denial at your permanent address as well as your SLU e-mail address.  All requests should be submitted by November 7, 2007 at 5pm.   All students who are released from their Housing Contract are subject to a $200 cancellation fee based on the terms of the contract.

After November 7, 2007 all room change requests for the spring semester will have to wait until Room Change Night in January 2008.

If you have any questions, please contact the Department of Housing and Residence Life Office at 977-2811 so we can set up an appointment for you to discuss your situation with a staff member.
