Patients with atrial fibrillation (af) benefit from an array of improved outcomes through an innovative procedure performed by Richard Lee, M.D., M.B.A., a SLUCare cardiovascular surgeon who helped develop the technique. The hybrid maze procedure merges the benefits of traditional maze surgery with minimally invasive instrumentation, allowing patients to recover far more rapidly and with less postoperative pain — while simultaneously reducing the risk of stroke, reducing reliance on anticoagulants and avoiding risks associated with open-heart surgery.
