SLUCare is a leading patient-centered, physician-guided provider of health care services in the St. Louis region. Guided by Judeo-Christian values and dedicated to excellent service in the Catholic Jesuit tradition, our central purpose is to support the mission of Saint Louis University by providing a setting for and financial support of health professions education and biomedical research.
As members of the Saint Louis University community, SLUCare's employees demonstrate conduct and performance consistent with SLU's mission - the pursuit of truth for the greater glory of God and for the service of humanity. In accord with our mission statement as a Jesuit, Catholic institution, SLUCare strives to be "catholic" or "universal" in recognizing the values we share with all traditions and persons of good will. In our aspirations to realize the University's mission, we celebrate a shared set of values that support the common good.
SLUCare is one of just three academic medical centers nationwide to receive accreditation by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care Inc. (AAAHC), and the only one in the St. Louis area. SLUCare physicians, who treat patients in more than a dozen specialty areas in multiple area locations, have been honored with a three year renewal of accreditation from AAAHC. This award means that the ambulatory practices of SLUCare have met nationally recognized standards for quality health care set by this Chicago-based organization.
Accreditation is a voluntary process and not easily earned. Before accreditation is awarded, an organization participates in a rigorous multistep evaluation process that includes an on-site survey. Not all ambulatory health organizations seek accreditation, and of those that do, not all receive positive results. Accreditation is awarded to only those institutions that deliver efficient, high quality, cost-effective care that is patient-focused. The AAAHC Certificate of Accreditation demonstrates an organization's commitment to provide safe, high quality services to patients and instills confidence to the community it serves.
