Opening Reception Success
On Friday, Aug. 3, the Saint Louis University Museum of Art hosted the opening reception for Urban Wanderers, a fundraising art exhibition in partnership with Stray Rescue of St. Louis. An attendance record was set as nearly 1,600 people participated in the opening night festivities. "At times, our guests had formed a line to view the artwork. I have never seen the gallery so crowded!" said Mary Marshall, marketing coordinator for the museum.

Urban Wanderers is inspired by the recovery stories of Stray Rescue's companion animals. All artwork in the exhibition is available for silent auction.
The theme of this year's highly anticipated fundraising event focuses on the survivors of Stray Rescue - innocent dogs and cats that have suffered shocking abuse, neglect and abandonment. Due to the efforts of the dedicated staff of Stray Rescue, these innocent victims of unspeakable cruelties are protected, sheltered and loved for the remainder of their lives.
On Friday, Aug. 17, the museum will host "Urban Hour," A Meet the Artist and Adoption event. Learn from the artists themselves, how the rescued strays have not only caught their eye, but in the process, touched their heart. Several Stray Rescue pups will be on-hand, and available for adoption.
"Urban Hour" is sponsored by Anheuser-Busch. The event begins at 5 p.m. and concludes at 8 p.m. For more information, please visit the Programming and Events page or call 977.2666.
