Saint Louis University Spanish Degree OverviewSaint Louis University's undergraduate degree program in Spanish prepares you for careers that require mastery of the language or to go on to graduate work. All students majoring in Spanish at SLU are encouraged to spend one year studying at Saint Louis University's campus in Madrid, Spain. (Learn about SLU Madrid.)
You'll also have access to SLU's Language Resource Center, which offers live satellite transmissions of international news broadcasts, interactive video, film and multimedia, and computer programs, all of which can help develop your Spanish language culture proficiency, as well as SLU's Center for Global Citizenship.
What You'll Learn in SLU's Spanish Degree ProgramStudents in SLU's Spanish degree program take advanced language courses. Your education is rounded out by courses in Spanish literature and culture and in linguistics. Students who major in Spanish complete their studies with either an additional upper level Spanish course or a senior thesis.
Senior Spanish language students who choose to write a thesis also participate in the Saint Louis University Graduate and Undergraduate Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures Student Symposium, which attracts more than 100 students from around the University, as well as neighboring colleges and schools.
