Tom Birmingham

Tom Birmingham
Media Services Specialist
Tom has been at SLU LAW for 3 years.

What do you like most about your job at SLU LAW?
The thing I like most about working at SLU LAW is being around so many great people all working towa...who am I kidding?? The parties! Duh.

How do you spend your free time outside of work?
Lately my passion, besides being the best dad for my daughter I can be, is all things beer. I am a homebrewer. So while Augustina is napping, I am constantly researching yeast propagation, water chemistry, brewhouse efficiency, and developing and brewing new recipes. And let's not forget "quality control."

What would you like to be when you "grow up"?
I would like to be the Brewmaster of my own brewery someday. It's hard work, but I have a passion for it and that's what would make it worthwhile.

How would you spend your ideal day in St. Louis?
My ideal day would begin with a quick round of golf at Glen Echo. Then add in a pinch of the Zoo and a dash of the Art Museum. Mix a to go lunch from Bogart's with iTap in Soulard. Head to 4 Hands Brewing Co and pre-game before going to Busch Stadium for a Cardinals Game where we defeat the Cubs. Then, finally, top all that off with a Snickers Concrete at Ted Drewes. That's a recipe for success!

What is one tidbit you would like the SLU LAW community to know about you?
"I was once the star of a short film called Purveyor of Wood II: The Dragon Master. YouTube it!
[Oh don't worry, Tom. We did.]

If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
Teleportation. I would love to be anywhere in the world in the blink of an eye.

What is your favorite downtown discovery?
Sam Jordan's loft...have you been to that place?? My goodness!

What is one word that describes you as a child?
Radical, dude!

Who is your favorite fictional lawyer?
Jack McCoy (Law & Order)

Where would you go on a shopping spree?
St Louis Wine and Beermaking

List three things currently in your office.
Buddha, hastas and pictures of Augustina.

Laura Bresnahan

Laura Bresnahan
Program Coordinator, Wefel Center for Employment Law
Laura has worked at SLU LAW for 3 years.

What do you like most about your job at SLU LAW?
I love the people I work with. The Wefel faculty are amazing and I don't know what I'd do without the staff from the two other Centers. It's also great to meet the many influential people we bring in for Wefel and related events. After all the people I've met who were appointed by the president, I like to think I'm now only two degrees of separation from Obama.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
The ability to read and absorb everything in a book just by touching it. My to-read list is just far too long by this point.

What is your favorite downtown discovery?
The perfect spot in my apartment close enough to the TV but far enough from the wall that I don't hear my neighbor's annoying music. And also Broadway Oyster Bar.

What would be the name of your Sirius/XM satellite radio station?
Wannabe Hipster Electropop and Embarrassing 90's Boy Bands

Who is your favorite fictional lawyer?
Does Mike Hannigan, the lawyer-turned-pianist on Friends, count?

Where would you go on a shopping spree?
Either Ticketmaster or a travel booking website

List three things currently in your office.
A map of the world so I can daydream about all the places I've yet to visit, an orchid Ira Trako gave me for my birthday that I've managed to keep alive so far, and pictures of boy band members on my door thanks to Cheryl Cooper's antics.
