Q. What is SLU's FAFSA school code?

A: 002506

Q. What is the deadline to file the FAFSA?

A. Saint Louis University's priority deadline to file the FAFSA is March 1. This date allows a student to be considered for maximum eligibility.

Q. Do I have to file a FAFSA?

A. You do not have to fill out a FAFSA, but we highly recommend doing so. Even families with high income levels have been surprised to find they have been awarded some type of aid after filing the FAFSA.

Q. My parents are separated or divorced. Who should file the FAFSA?

A. According to the FAFSA's guidelines, you should answer the parent section of the FAFSA about the parent you lived with more during the past 12 months. If you did not live with one parent more than the other, give answers about the parent who provided more financial support during the past 12 months, or during the most recent year that you actually received support from a parent. If this parent is remarried as of the date you are filing your FAFSA, answer the questions about that parent and the person to whom your parent is married (your stepparent).

Q. Why was I chosen for verification?

A. Verification is an audit process required by the Department of Education. Students generally are selected at random, but students may be selected if FAFSA information is incomplete or if some answers are inconsistent with other answers listed on their FAFSA.

Q. Is my FAFSA in Saint Louis University's system yet?

A. Please contact your financial aid counselor to check the status of your FAFSA.

Q. I have special circumstances not reflected on the FAFSA. How do I convey this?

A. Saint Louis University understands that circumstances sometimes change after you file your FAFSA. To share this our office, you are welcome to complete the Special Circumstance Review. Saint Louis University will determine if the student qualifies for any additional federal, state and/or institutional funds.

Q. Do I have to reapply for financial aid every year?

A. Yes, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is year specific. To be considered for aid, the FAFSA must be completed each year.

Higher purpose. Greater good.
